Mold Cavity
This is what we call the hollow inner geometry of the mold.
PatternA pattern is a part or multiple parts that are in the shape of the part to be cast. It is used in the creation of the sand mold, the pattern gives it the hollow inner geometry.
Parting LineThe line formed on a casting from molten material leaking into the seem between the cope and the drag.

Gating SystemThe gating system is the system of channels that the molten material is poured into, it allows the material to flow into the mold cavity.
Sprue
This is the primary channel in the gating system, through which the molten material flows through.
Pouring RatesThe speed at which molten material is poured into the mold.
Turbulent FlowWhen the flow of liquid into a mold is uneven and agitated.
|
Melting PointThe temperature at which a material begins to liquefy.
Pure MetalA metal that is one of the elements, it isn't combined with any other metals.
